Tuesday

We are formal!

We have submitted our formal application along with our first big chunk of change =)
Things feel good, the application was more fun than stressful, and badda bing badda boom!  We are all formal!

Next Friday May 6th is our day long orientation session, fitting since it is Mother's Day weekend!  Then an evening the following Tuesday ... and on to the home study!  It seems to be happening in perfect timing, our personal savings is matching up with the fees as they come along.  And, Chickie Crafts is TAKING OFF!  I now know why God put this idea in my heart so long ago ... it was never for a job, it was for my little pea!  I have deeply enjoyed getting to hand make each card for the person donating ... contact me today if you are interested!

So, keep those prayers and happy thoughts coming ... we are on our way, everyone!!!

Monday

Mother's Day 2011

First, let me say Mother's Day & Father's Day have never been "hard" for us, because we focus the day on our own parents.  I do believe that this year those days might have a little different meaning for us ... but a positive one.

We have gotten some bad news about our Yard-Sale-oh-Rama ... that idea is tabled for a little while, but we believe that is so something better can happen.  Time was short leading up to the first weekend in June, some dear friends are getting married ... and quite frankly we need to not take a whole lot of this in a total obsession no time for anything else mode!

So our best fundraising option right now is in fact, Chickie Crafts!
All cards are $2, special projects encouraged ... anything you need regarding creative paper projects, we are your hands!

So in an effort to raise money to become a mommy, I ask that you not forget your mom, mom-in-law, grandma, sisters, aunts, friends ... anyone that is a mom ... May 8th is the day to celebrate them!
Order now to get your customer Mother's Day
card from our heart to yours for $2!

If you are out of town-ers, we will mail them to you for $1 ... show me any Hallmark card that can beat THAT!

I will be taking orders all week, guaranteed to be mailed out/delivered to you before April 27th so you have plenty of time to write a beautiful sentiment to your loved one =)

I am filling up fast, 24 cards ordered since 8:30 this morning!  So please get your order in asap, email me!

Much love,
Card-Making-Mommy

Monday

BIG and little ways to help!

Good morning, world!
We spent some time thinking about the yard sale that is LITERALLY around the corner this weekend, and came up with some BIG and little ways for you to get involved at your own comfort level!

BIG ways ...

  • Donate items that you would be putting into a yard sale or consignment sale!  No donation is too small!  We need all the items we can get!
  • Share the yard sale and blog news on your facebook or blog to help us get volunteers and donations!
  • Help us the at the event!  We will need hands, and yours are just right!!  Set up on Thurs, sale on Fri and Sat.
  • Donate funds to the general cause to cover supplies needed, the rental of the space, and food for the volunteers!
Little ways ...

  • Save your PLASTIC GROCERY BAGS for us!  We are going to need tons!!
  • Tell friends and family about the yard sale ... you may not have things to donate or time to give, but someone you love may!
  • Pray for us on this journey and that this may be an excellent fundraiser!!
No help is too small ... we need hundreds of hands to help us through.
If you are so called to help like other friends have already been, let us know!

And for your weekly assignment ...
What makes a yard sale great?!  Give us suggestions so we can make this sale spectacular!!

A weekend of Hope

We are so amazed by the calls, notes, texts, and face time we have gotten with friends and family since we announced our adoption just a few weeks ago!!  So many of your hearts are so open to this process, I know this baby is going to have more aunts and uncles that he or she will know what to do with!!  We are so blessed to be surrounded with such a supportive network of life.

This weekend, we talked about our little one in the present tense for the first time.  It was not "what are we going to do if we have a baby ..." it was "do we need this upstairs? downstairs? why did we buy a 2-story house?!"  Luckily my parents came over for Sunday dinner and calmed a lot of our fears ... and mom saying she plans on being here whenever we need her helped, too =)

Then we talked about placement ... a part of a baby story most people never know about ... do we hope for the best and take little bitty home from the hospital?  Do we do interim care?  These are the little things that occur to you as an adoptive parent that do not really cross your mind otherwise ... but I had a sense of peace about it for the first time.  I was thinking to myself, I am built for this.  I make people feel comfortable, I am trustworthy, and I am going to make sure there is a relationship there for this birth mom;
just like God is going to give us her, He is going to give her us.

I like hope.  It is contagious ... and I want to be deep in hope all the time =)
