BIG and little ways to help!

Good morning, world!
We spent some time thinking about the yard sale that is LITERALLY around the corner this weekend, and came up with some BIG and little ways for you to get involved at your own comfort level!

BIG ways ...

  • Donate items that you would be putting into a yard sale or consignment sale!  No donation is too small!  We need all the items we can get!
  • Share the yard sale and blog news on your facebook or blog to help us get volunteers and donations!
  • Help us the at the event!  We will need hands, and yours are just right!!  Set up on Thurs, sale on Fri and Sat.
  • Donate funds to the general cause to cover supplies needed, the rental of the space, and food for the volunteers!
Little ways ...

  • Save your PLASTIC GROCERY BAGS for us!  We are going to need tons!!
  • Tell friends and family about the yard sale ... you may not have things to donate or time to give, but someone you love may!
  • Pray for us on this journey and that this may be an excellent fundraiser!!
No help is too small ... we need hundreds of hands to help us through.
If you are so called to help like other friends have already been, let us know!

And for your weekly assignment ...
What makes a yard sale great?!  Give us suggestions so we can make this sale spectacular!!

  1. Signage! Signage! Signage! Great way to make signs are to use old Suitcases, you can write right on them .... &/or put a t-shirt over a piece of carboard and write on the t-shirt. Whatever you price something at, "they" are going to offer less. Have Lots of $1 dollar bills and $5 dollar bills! Don't price anything under a dollar. Don't sell anything for anything less than a dollar. If you want to combine some things to get to a dollar, that works... but don't contend with change... so don't sell anything for less than a dollar! If someone wants to wheel and deal on every item, tell them to make a pile and you will give them a "pile price". Offer to wrap up dishes and breakables. Have a person devoted to doing this. Have a person(s) devoted to helping people back to their cars with their 'stuff'. Don't keep people wating. If you have a line wanting to pay.. get others to help with checkout. Ok, that is all I have to say on this, for now...... Love YOU BOTH!

  2. Hmm, I'd save plastic grocery bags for you but I've converted entirely to reusable. :( Guess I'll need to find another way to help. :)

  3. I'll keep plastic grocery bags for you. And per Gloria's comment, I have two old suitcases I was going to drop at Goodwill, but you can have them for signs or to sell!

  4. I'll be thinking of you this weekend, Kristin! Did you ask the Belmont Bookstore if they might donate some plastic bags?? Just a thought.
